The Biotechnology Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (BİOSB), Türkiye's new science and technology hub, and Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) have signed a strategic cooperation protocol aimed at strengthening Türkiye's position in the global biotechnology market.

To enhance Türkiye's competitiveness in the global biotechnology market, BİOSB (Biotechnology Organized Industrial Zone), which continues its industry-academia collaborations, has signed another strategic cooperation agreement. Within this framework, a comprehensive 'Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation' was signed between Yıldız Technical University and BİOSB, encompassing the joint use of laboratories and infrastructure, privileges for students, and support for entrepreneurship and projects. The signing ceremony, held at the Yıldız Technical University Rectorate building, was attended by BİOSB Chairman and BİYOSAD President Dr. Ercan Varlıbaş and YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik. The protocol aims to create a common ecosystem for transferring academic R&D expertise to industry, training qualified human resources, and commercializing biotechnological products. Under the protocol, the laboratory and testing infrastructures of YTÜ and BİOSB will be opened for mutual use, and significant steps will be taken towards human resource development. The parties will also develop joint projects targeting national and international funds.

" Industry-academia collaborations are crucial for the biotechnology ecosystem."

In his remarks following the signing ceremony, Dr. Ercan Varlıbaş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BİOSB and BİYOSAD, stated: “The biotechnology ecosystem is further strengthened by the combination of the knowledge accumulated by universities and the production capacity of industry. With this awareness, we are increasing our collaborations with our universities every day. The protocol we signed with YTÜ is of great importance in terms of ensuring this integration and accelerating the transformation of knowledge from R&D to product. The joint use of laboratory infrastructures, early participation of students in the sector, and joint projects are among the first steps that will increase Türkiye's global competitiveness in the field of biotechnology.”
