Türkiye's new science and technology hub, the Biotechnology Valley, hosted a strategic meeting. Türkiye's new science and technology hub, the Biotechnology Valley, hosted an important visit. During the visit, Dr. Ercan Varlıbaş, Chairman of the Biotechnology Industrialists Association (BİYOSAD) and the Biotechnology Specialized Organized Industrial Zone (BİOSB), along with Board Members and BİYOSAD member Zeynep Atabay Taşkent, met with Zahid Tuncel, Unit Manager of the Presidential Investment and Finance Office, and his team.

The first part of the visit involved a meeting to evaluate potential collaborations. The Biotechnology Valley , one of Turkey's largest technology and innovation projects, spanning approximately 2.7 million square meters and representing an investment of $4.5 billion, was the main topic of discussion. The meeting also considered comprehensive collaborations aimed at strengthening the research, production, and innovation ecosystem in biotechnology. In the second part of the visit, the guests conducted a site inspection of the Biotechnology Valley in Tuzla district of Istanbul.

"WE AIM TO MAKE Türkiye A REFERENCE COUNTRY."

Dr. Ercan Varlıbaş , Chairman of the Board of Directors of BİYOSAD and BİOSB, made the following statement at the meeting:

“Biotechnology is one of the most strategic fields shaping the world's economic and technological competition today. Our goal as the Biotechnology Valley is to make Türkiye not only a part of this competition but also one of the leading countries in it.”

In this regard, the collaborations we conduct with the public and private sectors constitute the most important levers strengthening Türkiye's biotechnology ecosystem. Strengthening this structure also prepares a solid foundation that enables the integration of international investors into our ecosystem. These are important steps towards our goal of transforming the Biotechnology Valley from a regional center into a global gateway. The fairs we participated in in South Korea, Taiwan, and Boston help us achieve this goal and support us in making Türkiye's biotechnology vision visible on a global scale.

It is precisely at this point that we will participate as the Turkey Pavilion in the Bio International Convention, one of the world's most important biotechnology congresses, which will be held in June 2026. In the pavilion, which we will realize with the public and private sectors, we will promote the biotechnology studies in our country.

Every step we take today is of strategic importance in expanding Türkiye's biotechnology ecosystem, strengthening joint projects with international stakeholders, and positioning our country among the leading nations in this field," he said.
